Student Success
The Student Success Coordinator helps support students while they are here in Social Circle City Schools and once they move on by providing a wide range of programs, including both experiences for all students and supports individualized for student needs.
-
Basic Needs - We connect students with the basic needs to be able to get to school, be in class and be ready to succeed. We partner with local non-profits, businesses, and the community to provide things like food, school supplies, school-appropriate clothing, and medical, dental, and vision support to our students. Some example of current programs include Backpack Buddies and school supply distribution.
-
Success Motivation - Our site coordinator works one-on-one with students to help them set, monitor and meet their goals. These are students who are on the caseload. Graduation is achieved one goal at a time by focusing on attendance, behavior, course performance and future plans.
-
Workforce Preparation - The Walton Works Initiative recognizes the workforce challenges in our community and is a partnership among our school systems, Development Authority of Walton County and other organizations. Walton Works provides programs that strengthen our local workforce by helping students explore careers and develop employability skills.
-
Community Engagement - The site coordinator seeks to connect the community (civic groups, local businesses, faith-based organizations) and the school in a variety of ways, such as sponsoring events, participating in Teacher Appreciation Week, or providing supplies and donations for our basic needs programs.
-
Mentoring Program - We connect students with mentors to support their success. These students may include REACH scholars or any student who would benefit from the support.
-
Experiential Learning - The site coordinator coordinates outside-of-the-classroom learning for students such as industry tours, Junior Achievement, and job fairs.
