PBIS & MTSS at Social Circle Elementary

At Social Circle Elementary, we want every child to feel supported, encouraged, and ready to learn. Our school uses Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), connected frameworks that help students academically, socially, and behaviorally. These systems work together to create a positive, consistent, and caring school environment for all students.

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a schoolwide approach that teaches and reinforces positive behavior. At SCES, PBIS helps us create clear expectations for how students act in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, playground, bus, and other common areas.

Our T.E.A.M expectations - Trustworthy, Empathetic, A+ Attitude, and Motivated - guide students in making good choices throughout the school day.

PBIS focuses on encouraging positive behavior, celebrating growth, and helping students learn the skills to be successful learners and citizens.

What is MTSS?

The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that helps us provide the right level of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for each child.

Through MTSS, we monitor student progress, identify individual needs early, and offer targeted support when needed. This ensures that every child receives the just-right level of assistance to thrive in school.

PBIS is one part of MTSS, working with academic and social-emotional supports to meet the needs of the whole child.

Since adopting PBIS, Social Circle Elementary has seen consistent improvements in student behavior, schoolwide routines, and daily expectations. Students understand what it means to be part of our TEAM and take pride in demonstrating these expectations across all settings.

Our T.E.A.M expectations - Trustworthy, Empathetic, A+ Attitude, and Motivated - provide students a clear roadmap for success. From the classroom and hallway to the cafeteria and interactions with staff and peers, these expectations are part of our daily routines.
